about
The band, fronted by singer-songwriter Ronan MacManus and guitarist Luke Dolan, fuses influences of rock, grunge, folk and Americana.
"This song portrays the experience of someone trying to stay sober and clean in the face of an environment of temptation” states MacManus.
The release may coincide with Sober October but was in fact written in 2018 and inspired by the environment of addiction that creatives can be exposed to on an ongoing basis throughout their careers.
lyrics
CIGARETTE
I was getting high trying to stop myself from feeling low
The devil came and took me from the sky to the valley below
The sound so sickly sweet from the radio
I see your face by the light of a cigarette
Bring it on, feeling strong, gonna take the world on
Cocaine go away come again another day
Hear your voice, no choice, try to silence all the noise
I see your face by the light of a cigarette
I see your face by the light of a cigarette
And it’s not your eyes
And it’s not your smile
I see your face by the light of a cigarette
I was getting high trying to stop myself from feeling low
The devil came asked me am I about to sell my soul
Then I heard a guitar screaming on the radio
I see your face by the light of a cigarette
